Abstract:

Inter simple sequence repeat DNA (ISSR) marker was used for molecular evaluation of twelve elite cotton genotypes to Gossypium hirsutam. The dendrogram generated by ISSR marker showed two clusters of the genotypes of Gossypium hirsutam brought from Dharwad, Nanded and Parbhani. Dendrogram obtained by ISSR marker showed similarity coefficient value in the range of 0.32 to 0.80. Two cotton genotypes NDH- 58 and NDH - 88 showed the highest similarity, whereas, genotype PH - 1009 showed least similarity coefficient of 0.428. ISSR primer IS - 12, IS - 13 generated maximum number of amplicons i.e. eight and IS -2, IS - 14 primers generated least number of amplicons i.e. four.
