Abstract:

Background: Periodontal health and dental restorations are closely related: periodontal health is needed for the correct functioning of all restorations while the functional stimulation due to dental restorations is essential for periodontal protection. Aims of the study: The present study was designed to evaluate the clinical effect of iatrogenic factors and dental management on periodontal tissues among the patients of intern dental clinics in King Khalid University Subjects and Methods: The sample of the present study consisted of three hundred patients and they were divided into three equal groups 100 patients per group control group, restorations group and crowns group .They were selected from the intern clinics of college of dentistry King Khalid University. Plaque index (PI), gingival index (GI), and clinical attachment loss were recorded. The results were collected and analyzed by excel program statistical analysis. Results: In the present study there were significant differences were detected in all clinical parameters in all samples of both groups (PI), (GI), and (CAL). Conclusions: Crowns and dental restorations are predisposing factors to gingivitis and possible periodontal attachment loss.
