Abstract:

NAMA project provides the asset management for all the Electric Utility Company across OMAN. GIS is the prime source of the electric asset details to the Asset Enterprise Management. GIS network and feature status that provides the information about the asset hierarchy and status of the asset in the eAM. By establishing the two-way integration between GIS with eAM applications that helps GIS and Asset management team to locate, define, maintain, manage the assets geographical in eAM. By extending the capability of the GIS, it provided the comprehensive ability to define and maintain all the electric generation, transmission and distribution asset information of different entities to integrate to core Oracle Enterprise Asset Management Solution (E-Business Suite). GIS map services consumed in the Oracle eAM application and mobile eAM app to envisage and act on all Maintainable assets to Initiate Work Request and Work Order from the GIS functional area that helps the asset management team to take the quick action needed. It is an effective mechanism to visualize Assets, especially for Asset intensive companies. The custom GIS REST Services has the capability to push and pull data between systems using the three-tier architecture. The implantation of the GIS-eAM Integration work in any utility network which different data model by introducing the few feature tables and by adding the new fields in the existing GIS data model which is used as a reference between GIS and eAM. The GIS Point and Polygon Feature Class are maintain as Discrete and the Polyline feature class as Linear in the eAM. The solution approaches in smartphone by GIS Map Workbench integrated in iOS and Android application. In laptop/desktop by GIS Map Workbench integrated in Self Service Maintenance Map workbench in Enterprise Asset Management Solution (E-Business Suite).

Suresh Sithiranathan working as GIS Senior Consultant at RedPlanet Consulting Pvt, Ltd, Oman. He completed his Masters in Remote Sensing and GIS from Anna University Chennai. Worked and Implement the different GIS across globle in different domain in Electric, Gas, Water, Telecom and Land Management. Has the hands on experence in GIS Project Development, GIS Data Management, GIS Data Migration and Integrating other system with the GIS.
