In particular, obesity and overweight in childhood are a serious public health problem as well as having a direct influence on the health of the child, tend to persist into adulthood. Despite numerous efforts over the past 30 years, the prevalence of obesity in children has increased dramatically. The World Health Organization identifies in government, international partners, civil society, NGOs (Non Governative Organizations) and private sector actors can play a decisive role in shaping healthy environments that can facilitate the choices of healthier lifestyles for both children and teens. In fact, emerging evidence shows that directly involve stakeholders, from civil society and local communities, play a crucial role in the development of public health policies. The coconut (children promoting nutrition through theatre), project will assess the effectiveness of a nutrition education intervention performed, by theatrical and practical workshops about correct nutrition, in subjects between the ages of 5 and 12 years. Also parents will be involved during the proposed activities. At the end of the project, the final product will be a theatre representation interpreted by children on the basis of the learned knowledge about correct nutrition. The level of knowledge about nutrition will be assessed in child and adults, at the beginning and at the end of the project, through a validated questionnaire.
