Uniqueness of Business Models has made modern communication very complex. Each model carefully designed with a very specific strategic direction and edge. Models now have captive and vendor co-existence. Global offshoring, Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), Joint Ventures (JV) all add to the complexity of these models as transitions, Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) inflict radical changes. As enterprises fight their survival in the volatile world markets, more new successful models evolve. Enterprises are now redefining themselves using flexible multi-layer architectures that can encapsulate value-services into a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). Data has always been considered as a top notch business asset for an enterprise. The levels of information handled by an enterprise now determine its competitive edge. HR data can also have different levels of sensitivity. Directory data, appraisal indexes, payroll figures and medical data have different confidentiality levels. Access to these data, located at diverse locations and platforms create security challenges. This research paper analyzes medical architectures like federated architectures and Regional Health Information Organizations (RHIO) in correlation with successful multi-layer business solutions and then proposes a secure architecture that focuses on secure access of HR sensitive data accessed from enterprise-wide locations.
