Abstract:

The objective of this study was to identify resistance of quinolones antibiotics between bacteria isolated from burn unit in Al- Hussein hospital at Thi-qar for the period from 1st of November 2014 to the end of June 2015. Growth on blood agar , MacConkey agar and Nutrient agar was identified by cultural and biochemical tests and confermated by API 20 E system : Out of 100 sample shown only 38 isolated bacteria which revealed that : 11/38 gave positive growth for Staphylococcus spp. , 10/38 gave positive growth for Pseudomonas spp. , 8 / 38 gave positive growth for Enterobacter spp., 6/38 gave positive growth for Serratia spp. 2/38 gave positive growth for Acinetobacter sp. , 1/38 gave positive growth for Ochrobactrum sp. All the 38 isolates of bacteria were screened for their antibiotic resistance against 6 antibiotics of quinolones class using Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method.
