Abstract:

The Research Group on Disparities on Health (RGDH) at Teachers College, Columbia University was founded in 2003, and began in the year 2006 accelerating the production of websites and e-health media in the form of videos and cartoons. Our products have been widely disseminated online, as well as evauated using online survey resesearch, while recruiting participants via social media campaigns. The results include the creation of a large library of e-health products that have been tailored to meet the needs of vulnerable populations at risk for health disparities. In tandem, numerous culturally appropriate research tools have been created, ensuring the evaluation of our brief e-health with a cadre of tools with good to excellent internal consistency, while frequently rooted in focus groups and interview data, thereby assuring validity and cultural acceptability. Our online protocols for conducting mixed methods research have well-positioned the RGDH for conducting research during the pandemic. This presentation provide an overview results of numerous evaluations of brief e-health interventions with adults and parent-child dyads, using cartoon, videos, and intervention-knolwedge tests,s spanning the following:. HIV/AIDS prevention for men who have sex with men (MSM), African American women, diverse People of Color, and diverse men, and Haitians around the globe: approaches to chronic disease prevention, including type 2 diabestes, asthma, and dental carries in children; and, interventions targeting children, families, and teachers to improve nutrition and dietary intake, including for immigrant adults and families. Lessons and principles learned for conducting this genre of e-health research will be delineated and shared.
