Abstract:

Introduction: Global surgeries are 90 types of routine surgeries in hospitals with annual determined tariffs and insurance companies pay approved tariffs to hospitals. This study aimed to compare global tariff and actual costs of surgeries in two hospitals. Method: In this cross-sectional study, data on all of surgeries were gathered via hospital HIS and all patients' medical records all surgeries during three months of 2015-2016 in two hospitals of Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Data were analyzed in the Excel and using regression in the statistics. Result: The findings of the study showed that there was a difference between recorded costs and tariffs in both of hospitals as recorded cost were more than tariffs. Costs in number 2 hospital were less than number 1 for same surgeries. Also number 2 hospital could reduce costs in 2016 than 2015. Conclusion: The tariff should be revised in referral hospitals of Tehran because these hospitals usually treated complex patients. But hospitals can greatly reduce and control costs by clinical management and cost management.
