Abstract:

Diabetes is a chronic disease, which occurs when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin, or when the body cannot effectively use the insulin it produces. This leads to an increased concentration of glucose in the blood (hyperglycemia). The burden of diabetes is increasing globally, particularly in developing countries. The causes are a complex, but are in large part due to rapid increases in overweight, obesity and physical inactivity. Cost-utility analysis can capture the value of improvements in morbidity and mortality. Cost-utility analysis thus increasingly facilitates the transparency of resource allocation processes. The aim of the study was to determine in Study cost of illness and cost of utility analysis in the population diabetic mellitus. Cost-utility analysis can capture the value of improvements in morbidity and mortality. Cost-utility analysis thus increasingly facilitates the transparency of resource allocation processes. Charlson co morbidity Index (CCI) is a scoring system that includes weighting factors on the basis of disease severity. Charlson co morbidity index predicts the ten-year mortality for a patient who may have a range of co morbid conditions. Scores are summed to provide a total score to predict mortality.
