Abstract:

Biomarkers are biological measurement that can be used for a variety of purposes, including identifying individuals who are at high risk of developing a disease, detecting disease early at a stage when it is treatable and diagnostics classification for personalized treatment based on a biological characterization of the disease of each individual patient. The sequencing of the human genome has provided an important body of biomarkers for all of the purposes. The molecular alteration ranges from those involving the DNA, RNA, microRNA and proteins. The miRNA are recently discovered small non coding endogenous single stranded RNAs that critically regulates the development, invasion and metastasis of cancers. They are altered in cancers and have the potential to serve as diagnostic markers for cancers.
