Abstract:
Lingual approach in orthodontic treatments has been a point of interest in the last six decades. Since 1960s, development of this approach had some �??ups and downs�?�. In the last decade, modern lingual orthodontic approach seems to have eliminated most of earlier problematic clinical aspects. Nowadays, lingual orthodontics is being successfully used in everyday practice all around the world. Customized lingual orthodontics is one of the most modern lingual approach. Specific arch/bracket design as well as specific relation to the center of resistance and rotation affect biomechanics and clinical manifestations in a different way than the buccal orthodontic systems. The aims are to: 1. Show simplified review of the lingual systems. 2. Compare lingual and buccal aspects of the orthodontic treatments. 3. Show some clinical situations in lingual orthodontics. 4. Present to general practitioner�??s lingual orthodontics as part of the multidisciplinary approaches.
