Abstract:

Banana is one of the main plants of horticultural interest, which are multiplied by micropropagation, compared with the conventional planting methods.Bananais now obtained from interspecific hybridization between two wild diploid species, M.accuminata and M.balbisiana which contributed the A and B genomes, respectively My study aimed to assessment of genetic fidelity of micropropagated banana (Robusta=AAA,Saba=ABB and Malbhog=AAB) using RAPD markers. Shoot tip of suckers were introduced and multiplied in vitro in different media. DNA were isolated from this micropropagated banana plants and ana - lyzed by Random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) using 10-meroligonucleotide sequence as compared to the parent plants.
