Abstract:

Background and Objectives: Autologous fat grafting is as a valid option for facial rejuvenation. There is no universal agreement of how one should harvest, process, or inject fat. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the effects of adding PRP to autologous fat grafting for facial rejuvenation. Method: A total of 365 cases between April 2014 to September 2020 enrolled in this study. The lower abdomen or thigh was chosen as the donor site for fat graft harvesting under low pressure with 10 cc syringe, processed with low speed centrifugation, then injected in to the face using blunt tip 1 mm cannula (first group). In the last 176 cases (second group) the fat mixed with PRP in the ratio of 0.3 ml PRP with 0.7 ml fat. The results were evaluated clinically and photographically. Data were analyzed using the statistical package for social science SPSS V. 23. Results: volume loss was the commonest minor complication reported in 51 cases (27%) in first group decreased to 21 cases (12%) in the second group. About 65% of the patients in the first group were highly satisfied after first fat grafting; however, the remaining 35% of the patients were either moderately satisfied or unsatisfactory due to fat absorption, however; 87% in the second group were highly satisfied. Conclusion: Adding PRP to fat graft has beneficial effect in term of decreasing fat absorption rate and increasing patient satisfaction. Key words: Fat Graft, Facial Rejuvenation, PRP, Centrifugation
