Abstract:

Rapid prototyping (RP) is really a kind of creation and the specific advantages of the technology, would cause to influence every field, as well as dentistry. Evolving RP technologies in dentistry offer new opportunities for treatments that could not have been imagined few years ago; from a simple surgical guide to a complex maxillofacial prosthesis. However, every new emerging technology brings with it new challenges that should be explored and understood especially in a clinical environment. Like every other technique, Rapid Prototyping has advantages and disadvantages. In this lecture, usage of RP techniques in dental clinics is discussed and its pros and cons are presented.
