Abstract:

Medical tourism is defi ned as a travel of patient for purpose to seek a treatment in a third country who has a less costs than their origin country. Th is fi eld of tourism has grown very fast due the specialized medical agencies, the hospitals and the medical professional in the host country. Among the Middle East countries, Lebanon (generated 1.2 billion dollars in 2014) and UAE occupied the highest revenue rated in the region. In Lebanon, there are no studies that evaluate the aspects of medical tourism. So it would be interesting to study not only the strengths and opportunities of medical tourism but also the obscure part (weakness and threats) associated with this type of activity: Complications arising from a medical intervention, problems of post-operative, pharmaceuticals and medical error. We based our work on qualitative and quantitative methodologies, these include in depth interviews with physicians from diff erent specialties???, ministry of tourism, travel agencies, a survey was designed according to the aim of research.
