Biography

I am a senior postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor USA. PhD: (2006-2012) in Biotechnology, Pune University and National Center for Cell Science (NCCS), Pune, India. Thesis titled ‘Molecular characterization of smallpox inhibitor of complement enzymes (SPICE), a functional homolog of human complement regulators. Master of Science (MSc) in Biotechnology (2003-2005), Goa University, Goa, India. Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biosciences, Purvanchal University, Joanpur, India.

Research Interest

I am working on brain cancer models. I have been conducting research to understand and identify the molecular markers behind perivascular invasion of brain tumor cells with the goal to develop therapeutics targeting tumor progression. I am also working to model brain tumor in mice using Sleeping Beauty transposon system which incorporates genetic alteration in mouse genome leading to the formation of low grade gliomas in mice. Thus my expertise is cancer biology with special focus on gliomas/brain tumors.
