Biography

Dr. Vivek S. Dave is an Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at St John Fisher College, Wegmans School of Pharmacy, Rochester, New York. Before holding this position he worked as a Research Scientist form 2007 to 2009 in the field of Pharmaceutical Development & Technical Services at Lubrizol Advanced Materials Inc., Brecksville., Ohio. He has been a Graduate Research Scientist at School of Pharmacy, University of Maryland, Baltimore from 2004 to 2009.
Dr. Dave received his B.S. in pharmacy with distinction from University of Pune, India in 2000 and M.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Bharati Vidyapeeth University, Pune, India in 2002. After completion of his Master’s degree Dr. Dave joined Agharkar Research Institute, Pune, India as a Junior Research Fellow. He was involved in a project related to the development and evaluation of anti-arthritis formulations, funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Later he worked with Lupin Pharmaceutical Pvt. Ltd. as a Research Associate. In 2004, Dr. Dave moved on to pursue Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. During his Ph.D. Dr. Dave worked on several research projects including, formulation of extended-release matrix tablets via roller-compaction, pre-formulation studies on common pharmaceutical excipients, near-infrared imaging studies to model properties of roller-compacted excipients, chemometric analysis and development of prediction models with NIR spectroscopy for evaluating functional attributes of extended-release tablet matrices. His research was published in several renowned peer-reviewed scientific journals like International Journal of Pharmaceutics, Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy etc. The research was also regularly presented at several professional conferences such as AAPS. While pursuing his Ph.D., Dr. Dave co-authored a chapter on tablet compression and compaction in a widely used reference book. After graduation in 2009, Dr. Dave accepted a position at Lubrizol Corporation, a specialty chemical company manufacturing pharmaceutical excipients.
