Biography

I am a Research Fellow funded by the Scottish Governments Centre of Excellence in Epidemiology, Population Health and Disease Control EPIC. I received Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Kharkov State Zooveterinary Academy, Kharkov, Ukraine and PhD in Veterinary Medical Science with minor in Statistics from College of Veterinary Medicine and Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Mississippi State University, USA. My research work started in Institute for Experimental and Clinical Veterinary Medicine, Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences, where I worked for several years on different aspects of diagnostics, vaccinology and control of Classical Swine Fever and Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome. I participated in outbreak investigation of Infectious Laryngotracheitis in commercial broilers in the state of Mississippi in 20022003. I then worked at CVM, MSU during 20032007 within the project Risk Factor Analysis of Salmonella and Campylobacter status of Broiler Flocks funded by USA National Research Initiative Epidemiological Approaches to Food Safety, CSREES , USDA. While in CVM, MSU, I participated in Mississippi Poultry Health Roundtable, academiaindustry interface veterinary extension programme, and assisted in teaching veterinary epidemiology and preventive veterinary medicine to veterinary professionals and graduate students. At the same time I carried out my PhD research on risk factor analysis of preharvest Salmonella status of broiler flocks in southern United States. I was elected to membership in The Society of Phi Zeta, the USA honour society of veterinary medicine, and was a student member of CRAWD and AAVLD. I am a charter member of EvidenceBased Veterinary Medicine Association .

My research concerns epidemiology and control of infectious diseases of animals.
