Dr. Vardan T. Karamyan is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Centre. He received his PhD in the year of 2004 in Biology from Institute of Biochemistry, National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, School of Pharmacy, Yerevan State Medical University. His work was mainly in the fields of Biochemistry and Pharmacology. After completing his PhD he worked at Yerevan State Medical University, Armenia as a Research Assistant Professor till 2006. He had been a Postdoctoral Visiting Scholar at University of Mississippi from 2005 to 2007. In 2008 he was appointed as Research Associate Scientist at University of Mississippi. He joined Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in the year of 2008 as an Assistant Professor. He is honored by many awards. He is member of American Physiological Society, American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, Society for Neuroscience, American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. He is also serving on the Editorial Board of journal Plos One. He has more than 20 publications in many international peer reviewed journals. His primary research interests focus on the understanding of the organization and function of the brain renin-angiotensin system in health and disease.
