Biography

Dr Tianbao Chen is Senior Lecturer in Functional Genomics at the School of Pharmacy, Queen’s University Belfast, UK.  His research interests are focused on studying the proteins/peptides that occur in the venoms of many venomous species and the genes that encode them, with the view to finding new drug leads. Also his work involves finding and characterising biologically active agents within Nature, such as venom from frogs and toads, which can help in the treatment of major diseases and lead to the development of new therapeutics.  His research is characterized by a fusion of biochemistry and cell and molecular biology.
