Biography

Dr. Tanuj Kanchan is currently working as District Medicolegal Consultant and Associate Professor in the Department of Forensic Medicine at Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore. He completed his post-graduation in Forensic Medicine from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal in 2006. He also holds Diploma in Forensic Medicine from SMS Medical College, Jaipur.
Dr. Tanuj Kanchan has authored more than 275 scientific articles in leading national and international indexed journals. He is an editorial board member in many national and international journals. In addition he is a peer-reviewer for more than 40 scientific journals. He was awarded a ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ for authoring more than 100 articles in PubMed by the Karnataka Medicolegal Society in 2011. He now has more than 175 articles in PubMed. As per Scopus database his articles have attracted more than 1000 citations with an h-index of 18. He has more than 1700 citations on Google Scholar with an h-index of 24. He was awarded Certificate of Appreciation for Excellence in Research & Publications by Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore for 6 consecutive years since 2008 and Good Teacher Award in 2014.
Dr. Tanuj Kanchan is a member of leading professional bodies in the field of Forensic Medicine, Pathology, and Toxicology. Apart from actively participating in various national events he has presented his scientific research in reputed International conferences. He has authored chapters in numerous international books including the 2nd edition of the Encyclopedia of Forensic Sciences (Academic Press, Elsevier) released in 2013 and Encyclopedia of Forensic and Legal Medicine (Academic Press, Elsevier) to be released later in 2015. He has been invited as a resource person, and has been a Faculty/ Member of the Organizing and Scientific Committees in national and international conferences. He has contributed substantially to the world literature on forensics and allied sciences. He is a competent forensic medicine practitioner, an efficient teacher and has proved to be a worthy academician.
