Major area of specialization: Molecular Microbiology and Microbial Physiology
Major areas of Research: Diagnosis, epidemiology, pathogenesis and Systematics of susceptible- and drug-resistant mycobacterial (mainly M. tuberculosis) and mycotic (mainly Candida/Aspergillus/novel emerging) infections
Other areas of Molecular Microbiology Research:
As a Molecular Microbiologist, I also collaborate with Prof. Widad Al-Nakib, Professor of Virology, in the establishment of molecular methods for the detection and genotyping of viruses in clinical specimens for rapid diagnosis of viral infections.
