Biography

Dr Stephen Cho Wing SZE is currently an Assistant Professor (2011-Present), Academic Advisor (2011- present) and year one coordinator (2008-Present) in School of Chinese Medicine, the University of Hong Kong (HKU). He graduated a bachelor degree with first class honors from Biology Department (Biotechnology Stream) at Hong Kong Baptist University in 2000; and a bachelor degree in Chinese Medicinal Pharmaceutics from China Pharmaceutical University, PRC, in 2012. In addition, he completed 4-year PhD in protein therapeutic research in School of Biomedical Sciences at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2004. He then joined the School of Chinese Medicine (HKU) as laboratory manager (2004-2008) and postdoctoral-fellow (2005- 2008), and was involved in various projects, mainly on the quality control and pharmacology of Chinese medicine formulae for menopause and cancer. He was a Research Assistant Professor (2008-2011) and continued his research in mechanistic study of Chinese medicine formulae and protein therapeutics derived from Chinese medicine. He was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2011. He has published over 50 international papers, 3 national papers, 5 national patents, 1 US patent and 1 PCT patent.

Research Interest

Systems biology of ovarian aging, Drug discovery and mechanistic study of Chinese Medicine Formula, bioactive compounds and protein therapeutics for menopause and cancer, Quality control of Chinese medicine using chemical, molecular and proteomics approaches.
