Biography
Dr. Ryan D. Kilpatrick received his PhD in Epidemiology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Currently, he works as an epidemiologist at Amgen, Inc. In this role, he leads observational research designed to evaluate the safe and effective use of a therapies in patients with end stage renal disease (ESRD) as well as gain better understanding of the pathobiology of secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) in this patient population. Prior to this, Ryan studied HIV/AIDS pathogenesis and epidemiology at UCLA. He has authored a number of peer reviewed publications and numerous abstracts in each of these areas as well as served as a peer reviewer for clinical and epidemiology journals.
Research Interest
Pharmacoepidemiology and comparative effectiveness research. Methods to control for confounding by indication (CBI) in drug studies, including marginal structural modeling and instrumental variable analysis. Secondary hyperparathyroidism and mineral and bone disorders of chronic kidney disease.
