Biography

Dr. Russell Swerdlow is a professor in the departments of Neurology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Molecular and Integrative Physiology at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He currently serves as the director of the University of Kansas Alzheimer’s Disease Center and the University of Kansas Medical Center’s Neurodegenerative Disorders Program. Dr. Swerdlow received his undergraduate and doctor of medicine degrees from New York University. He trained as a neurologist and Alzheimer’s disease specialist at the University of Virginia. Dr. Swerdlow’s primary research interest includes brain energy metabolism and the role brain energy metabolism plays in Alzheimer’s disease, other neurodegenerative diseases, and brain aging.
