Biography

Dr. Patrick Flood received his PhD in Immunology from the University of Chicago in 1980, under the mentorship of Dr. Hans Schreiber, MD/PhD, then did a postdoctoral fellowship at Yale University from 1980-1983 in the mentorship of the late Dr. Richard Gershon. He was appointed an Instructor, Dept. of Pathology and Biology at Yale University and a Senior Research Associate, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, New Haven, CT in 1983, followed in 1984 by an appointment as an Assistant Professor, Dept. of Pathology and Dermatology at the Yale University School of Medicine and an Assistant Investigator in the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. He has been on the faculty of the Dept. of Microbiology/Immunology and Periodontology, and a member of the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill since 1988. During his time at UNC-CH, he has served as Associate Dean for Research at the School of Dentistry, Director of the Comprehensive Center for Inflammatory Disorders, and Director of the Curriculum in Oral Biology.
