Biography

Natália Martins is graduated in Dietetic and Nutrition with outstanding performance, and also received an honorable recognition - best graduate student. She is also specialist in Natural Medicine and attended other advanced courses in Traditional and Integrative Medicine. In March 2013, she started her PhD in the University of Minho (Braga- Portugal), in collaboration with Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (Bragança – Portugal), University of Salamanca (Salamanca – Spain) and Faculty of Medicine, University of Oporto (Oporto – Portugal). Her project, entitled “Medicinal plants to be used in phytotherapy as antifungals: effect of phenolic compounds on the growth of Candida species in suspension and in biofilms”, received funding from Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT, Portugal). From March 2013 up to now, more than 15 articles were published in ISI and Scopus indexed journals, and 4 book chapters. Only in 2015, she received two merit awards and a scientific recognition for the novelty and significance of the research work developed. Natália is also reviewer of scientific journals with high impact factors and recognition, an invited member of the Council for Nutritional and Environmental Medicine (CONEM) and an effective member of the Order of Nutritionists.
