Biography

Dr. Khan received his B.S. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering; M.S. in Environmental Engineering and Aquatic Chemistry; and Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering and Genetics. He completed his Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo, Japan. Dr. Khan worked at the Center for Biofilm Engineering of MSU, the University of New Mexico, and the University of Tokyo, and is working at Washington State University. He is a visiting scientist of Los Alamos National Lab. He also performed collaborative project with Sandia National Lab. His research has been supported by NIH, DoE, US Army, NSF, WERF, Dow Chemical Co., Novozyme Co., and DoD. Dr. Khan published more than 60 peer reviewed publications and conferences. He is involved in several international professional organizations as a committee member, and in several peer-review journals and research grant agencies in USA, Germany, Israel and Romania as a reviewer. He also has significant experiences working with World Bank, Asian Development Bank, UNDP, JICA and several international companies. Dr. Khan has strong experience working in various pilot treatment projects. He developed several next general TFC surfaces for RO, FO, and NF membranes and hybrid membrane systems for water and wastewater purification.
