Biography

Mohammad Javed Equbal received his Ph.D. (Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology) from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India. Prior to his Ph.D. he studied modern biology for his M.Sc. (Life Sciences) and M.Tech. (Biotechnology) degrees. Later, he carried his postdoctoral research from Kusuma School of Biological Sciences, IIT Delhi in the area of chaperone assisted protein folding. At present he is a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biomedical Sciences in Texas A&M University-Commerce, Texas, United States. His laboratory is currently engaged in research on understanding molecular events during direct cardiac differentiation and to utilize the knowledge for producing highly efficient cardiomyocytes in vitro and in vivo conditions towards the treatment of myocardial infarction.
