Biography

Dr. Mohammad Arif is an Assistant Professor of phytobacteriology at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. Dr. Arif obtained his B.S. in Agriculture, M.S. in Molecular Biology & Biotechnology from G. B. Plant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar and Ph.D. in Biosciences from Jamia Millia Islamia (A Central University), New Delhi, India. He completed his postdoctoral research at the National Institute for Microbial Forensics & Food and Agricultural Biosecurity (NIMFFAB), Oklahoma State University, Washington State University and Kansas State University. His lab research focuses on population genetics, next generation sequencing based comparative genomics, molecular plant-bacterial interactions, molecular diagnostics and microbial forensics. Dr. Arif works on high consequence plant bacterial pathogens including U.S. select agents. He has also worked in collaboration with Plant Biosecurity Cooperative Research Centre, Canberra, Australia on a high consequence pathogen and the US Select Agent, Rathayibacter toxicus.
