Michele Caraglia, M.D., Ph.D. is Associate Professor of Biochemistry at the School of Medicine of the Second University of Naples in Naples (Italy). He coordinates the Signal Translation Lab at the Department of Biochemistry, Biophysics and General Pathology of the Second University of Naples. He is secretary and treasurer of the Italian Association of Cell Cultures (AICC) and editorial board member of several international peer-reviewed journals. He found and characterized an escape mechanism from the anti-proliferative and pro-apoptotic activity of IFN in cancer cells based on the overactivation of an inducible EGFrasErk-dependent pathway. Moreover, he studied the role of aminobisphosphonates in the control of cell proliferation developing strategies based on the use of nanotech devices or of combinations with other target based agents.
