Biography

Dr Kay Michele Georgina Wood graduated in Pharmacy from Aston University in 1988 and worked as a hospital pharmacist before joining Keele University. She received her PhD from Keele in 2000 titled “Studies of the effect of a therapeutics advisory service in primary care”, which is one of the first studies of the role of pharmacist prescribing advisors or primary care pharmacists. The passion for good patient care and strive for rational prescribing continued by joining Aston University and leading postgraduate teaching in therapeutics and primary care service provision for many years. Dr Wood teaches therapeutics to M Pharm students, particularly final years, and also overseas pharmacists, whilst supervising projects at M Pharm and MSc level.

Research Interest

• Provision of clinical pharmacy services in community pharmacy including MURs and Healthy Living Pharmacies.
• Factors influencing the quality of repeat prescribing and how this contributes to waste medicines.
