Biography

Kalachand Sain received his Ph.D. in Controlled Source Seismology from Osmania University,Hyderabad. He visited Cambridge University (UK) and Rice University (USA) as a post-doctoral fellow. He is presently the Head of Gas-Hydrate Group at CSIR-NGRI, and working on gashydrates,sub-volcanic sediments, and geo-tectonics based on travel-time tomography, AVO modeling, full-waveform inversion, seismic attributes and rock physics modeling. He has published more than 130 research articles, and guided for 48 dissertations of M.Sc. Tech students in App. Geophysics. He is a well-recognized scientist decorated with (i) Fellow of National Academy of Sciences, India, (ii) AP Scientist Award, (iii) National Mineral Award, (iv) Bureau Member of International Lithosphere Program, (v) Raman Fellowship and Young Scientist Award of CSIR, (vi) Krishnan Gold Medal of IGU, (vii) BOYSCAST Fellowship of DST etc. He is a member of various National Committees and Editorial Boards (\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\Episodes\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\, \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\Jour. of Geological Soc. of India\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\, \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\Int. Jour. of Earth Sci. & Engg.\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\), and served as a Guest Editor in \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\Marine & Petroleum Geology\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ and as a member of Editorial Board for \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\Encyclopedia for Solid Earth Geophysics\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ - 2011.
