Biography

Dr Yuen is a Biomedical Scientist with professional qualification in Medical Laboratory Science. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, responsible for teaching and research in Biological Areas. With particular interests in Urology and Cancer, Dr Yuen has focused his research in Bladder cancer and Renal stones which are both considered as occupational diseases associated with the usage of environmental chemical contaminants. Much of his research work was focused on studying the pharmacology and chemistry of a medicinal mushroom known as Ganoderma lucidum, underlying the aim of discovering bioactive natural / herbal ingredients for cancer treatment. Besides, Dr Yuen is currently collaborating with a Industrial company to investigate the usage of nano-technologies in facilitating infection controls in healthcare settings and community.
