Biography

Dr. Jesus M. Banales is the Head of the Liver Diseases Group at the Biodonostia Research Institute (Donostia University Hospital). His group is focused on the following topics: role of bile acids, microRNAs and metabolites in normal liver function, and the study of diseases such as Primary Biliary Cirrhosis (PBC), Polycystic Liver Diseases (PCLDs), Chronic Liver Injury, and Liver Cancer (i.e. Hepatocarcinoma and Cholangiocarcinoma).
Dr. Jesus M. Banales is also: 1) Principal Investigator of the Spanish Network of Hepatic and Digestive Diseases [CIBERehd, Carlos III Health Institute], 2) Principal Investigator of IKERBASQUE [Basque Foundation for Science, Basque Government], 3) Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic (USA), and 4) Assistant Professor of Sciences at the University of Navarra (Spain).
