Biography
Ioanna Skountzou Assistant Professor Ioanna Skountzou majored in Biology 1980 and received her M.Sc. in Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin, Madison1983. She received her Medical degree from the University of Patrai 1990 and her PhD in Immunology from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece 1993. She is Board certified in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. She is currently working at Emory University Medical School, Department of Microbiology and Immunology and she is an Investigator of the Influenza Pathogenesis and Immunology Research Center IPIRC, Emory UniversityUGA. She has authored several research articles and chapter books on HIV and influenza vaccines.
Research Interest
Pathogenesis of influenza and parainfluenza viruses and vaccine development, virus induced host immune mechanisms, transcutaneous immunization, innate immunity.
