Biography

Edzard Spillner is group leader for molecular immunology at the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Department of Chemistry, at the University of Hamburg, Germany. After studying chemistry in Hamburg and Kiel he received his Diploma in Chemistry 1998, a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology 2002 and his Venia Legendi for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 2009. Actually he is working on the interface of the innate and adaptive immune response and pathgenic structures with special emphasis on allergen/antibody interactions.  Another focus is hymenoptera venom allergy with respect to the nature of implicated allergens, their molecular mode of action and the development of therapeutic approaches.
