Biography

 Dr Stephen Cho Wing SZE is currently an Assistant Professor (2011-Present), Academic Advisor (2011-present) and year one coordinator (2008-Present) in School of Chinese Medicine, LKS Faculty of Medicine, the University of Hong Kong (HKU). He obtained his first bachelor’s degree in Biology (1st class honors) from Hong Kong Baptist University in 2000 and his second bachelor’s degree in Chinese Medicinal Pharmaceutics from China Pharmaceutical University, PRC, in 2012. He completed my 4-year PhD in edible mushroom protein therapeutic research in the Department of Anatomy, Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2004, and have since continued his research in natural products and Chinese medicines. He then joined the School of Chinese Medicine (HKU) as laboratory manager (2004-2008) and postdoctoral-fellow (2005-2008), he was subsequently promoted to Research Assistant Professor (2008-11) and Assistant Professor (2011-present). His research interests are in the areas of Chinese medicine (CM formulae, proteins, and polysaccharides) and aging research including menopause and inflammatory diseases. He has published 73 international papers, 2 national papers, 91 Conference papers, 9 patents

Research Interest

1. Systems biology of ovarian aging.

2. Drug discovery and mechanistic study of Chinese Medicine Formula, bioactive compounds and protein therapeutics for aging disorder – i.e. menopause, neurodegenerative disease and cancer. (Patents related to ovarian-aging/menopause research and cancer research have also been shown at pages 9-10)

3. Quality control of Chinese medicine using chemical, molecular and proteomics approaches.
