Biography

Dr. Dmytro Butov, MD, PhD. Born in 1982 in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Graduated from the Kharkiv National Medical University (KNMU) in 2005. After graduation completed 3-year internship in Phthysiology (Tuberculosis) at Kharkiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education. In 2008 received Manager in Health degree from the Faculty of Management in Public Health at the Kharkiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education. Defended PhD dissertation in 2010 on the subject of therapy of pulmonary tuberculosis with quercetin with polyvinilpirrolidone. Currently, Associate Professor at the Department of Phthysiology and Pulmonology at KNMU and attending clinician at affiliated TB hospital. In 2009 received Special Award from the President of the Ukraine for Gifted Youth. In 2011 received Prize for the Best Presentation at the 3rd conference of the International Union of TB and Lung Disease in Asia and Pacific Region in Hong Kong, China. In 2012 received Travel Scholarship in Global Health from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMFG) to attend Keystone Symposium dealing with TB. The same year received a scholarship from the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for Young Scientists. In 2013 received Grant from Global Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Program from the US Department of State funded through Civilian Research & Development Foundation - the non-profit organization authorized by the US Congress and established in 1995 by the National Science Foundation. In 2013 was selected as a finalist in Global Impact Competition of Central and Eastern Europe & Turkey organized by the Singularity University - a non-profit US foundation in Silicon Valley, whose mission is to educate, inspire and empower leaders to apply exponential technologies to address humanity’s grand challenges. Grant Award from the Firland Foundation, Washington, USA for a project dealing with immunotherapy of TB. Most recent grant is from Stars in Global Health awarded by Grand Challenges Canada which is funded jointly by the Government of Canada and BMGF. Published 53 research papers and inventor on 6 Ukrainian patents. Member of the European Respiratory Society, TB-net, NTM NET and International Union of TB and Lung Disease and etc. Member of the Editorial Board of scientific journals: Journal of Pulmonary & Respiratory Medicine, Journal of Health Science and etc.
