Biography

David A. Johnson, Ph.D. graduated from Hofstra University with a BA in Biology in 1974. Dr. Johnson worked as a poison information specialist at the Maine Poison Control Center from 1980 to 1990. During the same period, he earned a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences. Following receipt of his doctorate, Dr. Johnson became a Post?Doctoral fellow under Dr. Bernard Lown at the Harvard School of Public
Health and later a Senior Post?Doctoral fellow at Interneuron Pharmaceuticals in Lexington, MA working under Dr. Richard Wurtman. In 1992 he became a faculty member at the Mylan School of Pharmacy and Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Pittsburgh, PA, where he currently serves as Division Head of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dr. Johnson’s current research interests include the neurobiology of learning and memory and developing drugs to treat cognitive impairments associated with Parkinson’s disease.
