Biography

Daniel J. Phillips has been teaching chemistry for 16 years as a professor, lab class leader and tutor. He has taught at Capital University Ohio State University and Bethany College among others. Classes taught have been mostly organic and general chemistry, but he has also taught biochemistry, spectroscopy, pharmacology and non major classes. Student evaluations are always high and tutor students are happy. His degrees are from the University of Nevada (Ph.D. Chemistry), CSU East Bay (MS Chemistry) and UC San Diego (BA Biochemistry). He has 7 peer reviewed publications, numerous conference presentations and has awards for teaching and research: Dreyfus Fellowship, Outstanding Teaching Assistant, Outstanding Graduate Student, Who’s Who, INBRE and SSP grants.

Research Interest

Research interests are synthetic organic and bioorganic chemistry. Emphasis has been on molecules that could be a nanotechnology molecular motor and on modified DNA bases that are used to study cancer mechanisms.
