Biography

Celestial Yap is Principal Investigator and Associate Professor at the Department of Physiology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. Graduating with an MBBS degree (Singapore), she was engaged in hospital practice before embarking on PhD studies at the University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom. She set up the Cytoskeleton and Tumour Biology laboratory at NUS in 2006, which focuses on cytoskeletal derangements that promote tumour invasion and resistance to treatment. The laboratory’s interests also include signaling pathways in tumour biology, and biomarkers in human diseases including cancer and sepsis. As an academic, she is also actively involved in medical education, where she serves in several committees overseeing examinations and curriculum review, and supervises the training of medical educators.

Molecular mechanisms in human disease with a focus on cancer progression, recurrence and therapeutic resistance; biomarkers in human diseases including cancer and sepsis.
