Biography

Dr. Blechaczis a physician scientist who received his medical degree from the University of Heidelberg, Germany. In addition, he holds two doctoral degrees (Dr. med, Ph.D.) awarded through the University of Heidelberg/German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), Germany, and the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, USA. Dr. Blechacz is specialized in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, andis currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. His scientific and clinical focus are hepatobiliary malignancies. Dr. Blechacz’s previous and current research focus includesthe assessment of viral and non-viral gene delivery systems, the evaluation of novel molecular pathway interactions and the development of innovative strategies to therapeutically target these interactions in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and cholangiocarcinoma (CCA).
