Biography

Professor Antonio Filippini has received degree of Doctor of Medicine and surgery with honours at University of Rome La Sapienze. He has received his PhD in the field of Histology and Medical Embryology at University of Rome "La Sapienza University in the year of 1988. He had been a post doctoral fellow at Institute of General Biology, Centre of Cytogenetic, University of Rome La Sapienza from 1979 to 1981. In 1997 he served as NATO-CNR Senior Fellow in the Department of Pharmacology at University of Oxford, UK. He had been NATO CNR Senior Fellow in Laboratory of Immunology at National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, N.I.H., Bethesda USA in the year of 2000. Currently he is working as Professor of Histology and Medical Embryology at University of Rome "La Sapienza University. He has authored many research articles in many international journals.

Research Interest

• Regulation of angiogenesis and of the mechanisms of "calcium signalling" in human endothelial cells.
 • Epigenetic regulation of the genesis and progression of prostate cancer induced by inflammatory stimuli.
• Mechanisms of regulation of the immune response in immunologically privileged organ and the control of apoptosis in the male gonad.
• Mechanisms of signal transduction mediated by calcium in the muscle tissue remodelling.
