Research Interest

A common theme throughout the academic and industrial research has been the development of enabling technologies for antibody generation, in particular against infectious disease agents, such as anthrax, malaria. Another emerging research area is in developing and applying synthetic biology to create novel molecules for use in disease intervention approaches such as paratransgenesis. The research is funded by the US NIH NIAID and APHIS and in part supports EU-COST FA0701, Arthropod Symbiosis: From Fundamental Studies to Pest and Disease Management.
