According to the article entitled Varicose Veins: Diagnosis and Treatment, they are saying that varicose veins are dilated veins located mainly in lower extremities and the exact pathophysiology is under discussion? There are factors including weakened vascular walls, increase intra-venous pressure, genetic predisposition, and incompetent valves.
