Biography
He is currently an Assistant Professor of mechanical engineering at University of Hong Kong. The main areas of his research are: soft wearable robotic devices, haptics, robotics, teleoperation, and flexible transmission mechanisms. The main application areas are medical robots, especially surgical robots, and haptic human-robot interaction.Before joining HKU, he have been a postdoc fellow with joint appointments in the Wyss Institute of BioInspired Engineering and the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard University, USA from 2013-2014. Prior to Harvard, he was with Nanyang Technological University, Singapore from 2010, working with A/Prof Louis Phee, focusing on endoscopic surgical robots. Between 2012-2013 he was a research scientist at EndoMaster Medical Pte Ltd, Singapore. From 2006-2010, he was with Institute of Automatic Control Engineering, Technishe Universität München, Germany as a research assistant on human-robot handshake project "IMMERSENCE", supervised by Prof Martin Buss.He was awarded with his doctorate in Dec 2010.
