Spokesman of the Fraunhofer Group for Life Sciences and member of the Presidential Council of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.
Biography
Prof. Dr. Thomas Hirth studied Chemistry at the University Karlsruhe and completed his studies with the doctoral degree. In 1992 he started his scientific career at the Fraunhofer-Institute for Chemical Technology (ICT), Pfinztal, in the fields of Environmentally Friendly Production Processes and Renewable Raw Materials. He then took over the Department Environmental Engineering at the Fraunhofer ICT. Since December 2007 he has been Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Interfacial Engineering and Biotechnology IGB and in April 2008 he also became the Director of the Institute of Interfacial Process Engineering of the University of Stuttgart. He is currently Spokesman of the Fraunhofer Group for Life Sciences and member of the Presidential Council of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.
