T Naidu

Biography

Dr. Thirusha Naidu is Senior Clinical Psychologist at the Kwa-Zulu Natal Department of Health and also the Department of Behavioural Medicine, University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. She has a special interest in promoting group therapy for psychiatric disorders and encouraging a community clinical psychology approach to intervention. Thirusha’s research interests include social and cultural psychology in health and psychotherapy models, methods and training. Thirusha gained her PhD degree from the University of Kwa Zulu Natal, in which the focus of her doctoral research involved identity, culture and context with home-based care volunteers in rural South Africa. She is developing an interest in health communication and reflective practice in clinical encounters with health care practitioners including home-based care volunteers, clinical psychologists, doctors and nurses.
