Biography
Professor Tachibana graduated from the department of Forestry in the year 1974 from the Faculty of Agriculture in Ehime University and post-graduated in 1976 in Forest Products from Kyushu University. He worked as a Research Associate in Kyushu University and did his post-doctorate fellowship in New York State University from 1982-84 and in British Colombia University, Canada from 1992-1994. He was also a cooperate member in The Science Council of Japan from 2006 to 2014. He has been associated with Ehime University, Faculty of Agriculture since 1992, and became the dean of United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences, Ehime University in 2013.

Chemistry and Biotechnology for Utilization of Forest Resources.
Bioremediation of environmental pollutants like dioxins and environmental hormones by use of white-rot fungi
Production of biologically active compounds (e.g. anticancer) by tissue cultures and cell cultures of plants
Production of useful compounds (e.g. anticancer and cellulose) by microorganisms.
Bioremedeiation of environmental hormones-contaminated soil and water and crude oil-contaminated soil and water by microorganisms
